Gastite, a London‐based Smiths Group company, continues global efforts for its flexible gas piping system with extensive launch in UK market

PORTLAND, Tenn., July 1, 2013 — Gastite, a Smiths Group company and leading manufacturer of flexible gas piping for residential and commercial applications, announces its launch into the United Kingdom. With the majority of propane and natural gas pipe installers utilising copper tubing, the market is primed to accept this efficient, flexible corrugated stainless steel product.

In light of businesses restructuring and managers looking for ways to reduce costs, efficient processes are essential to survival in construction. Any product that allows an installer to get in and complete a project faster and safer is welcomed in any economy. Gastite flexible gas piping is a product that offers speed and confidence in residential housing as well as retail, commercial and industrial applications. "Gastite is lightweight and flexible and easily maneuvers around obstacles, requiring only one fitting at the meter and one at the appliance," explains Craig Barry, Vice President, Marketing, Smiths Group, plc. "That feature alone cuts installation time by 50% versus copper tubing. Plus the fittings offer a metal-to-metal seal and can be assembled with simple hand tools. No hot works are required."

"As we extend our brand globally our mission remains strong," states David Oehlers, Vice President and General Manager Flex‐Tek Construction Division. "By upholding Gastite's reputation as a customer‐focused company with high quality products and services, we will positively impact our customers' businesses and profitability."

The Gastite flexible gas piping system is approved under the BS Kitemark number KM587681 and will be offered through select plumbing and heating distributors across the UK.
